摘要

Homocytotropic antibody (HCA), measured by a 72-hour Prausnitz-Küstner test, was detected consistently in sera of nonatopic dogs after intramuscular inoculation with alum-precipitated (AP) tetanus toxoid. Less marked and consistent HCA responses were observed after inoculation of AP-dinitrophenylated keyhole limpet hemocyanin. Peak titers of antitoxoid HCA were detected between 2 and 3 weeks post inoculation, and HCA persisted for more than 6 weeks after primary inoculation. The antitoxoid HCA was labile to heat treatment (56 °C for 4 h) or 2-mercaptoethanol reduction, but was stable after 24 h at 4 °C, or five times repeated freezing and thawi
