In replacing the deteriorated spillway deck and hoists at its 8.4-MW Dells hydro facility, Xcel Energy faced numerous constraints related to time, economics, and river flows. Thanks to comprehensive project planning and innovative techniques for demolition and construction, the utility was able to complete the project within budget and well ahead of schedule.
