摘要

Feasibility of using a SIRE (sensors based on injection of the recognition element) biosensor to monitor the degradation of H2O2 added to milk, as an indicator of mastitis, was determined. To test this electrochemical method of detection, H2O2 was added to model milk (non-homogenized, low pasteurized milk) spiked with 0.53-5.33 U/ml of catalase. The biosensor was successfully able to evaluate the catalase activity of the samples by measuring H2O2 degradation, and membrane clogging had no detrimental effects upon the system for 2.5 h. It is suggested that detection systems based on SIRE technology may potentially be used in-line with milking equipment for the early detection of mastitis.
