2009 marks the beginning of a new era for Innovations, the official journal of the International Society for Minimally Invasive Cardiothoracic Surgery (ISMICS). At the September 2008 ISMICS Board of Directors meeting-in Lisbon, an entirely new editorial and management team was unanimously approved. Dr. Ralph J. Damiano, Jr., is now Editor-in-Chief, serving ? renewable 5-year term and Mrs. Carol L. Blasberg is now Managing Editor. Both are well {mown to most of our readership as seasoned professionals in the field of academic cardiothoracic .publication.Dr. Damiano served as Associate Editor of The Journal of Thoracic and Cardiovascular Surgery for 10 years. He is world renowned as a pioneer in cardiothoracic surgery himself, having made seminal contributions to the development of off-pump coronary bypass surgery, robotic cardiac surgery, and surgical treatment of atrial fibrillation. His rigorous and unflinching analysis and reporting of surgical outcomes with minimally invasive techniques has earned him a reputation as a respected, credible innovator who is grounded in his commitment to advance the field of minimally invasive cardiothoracic surgery while providing each patient the best possible surgical care.
