Cellulose nanocrystals (or sometimes known asnanocrystalline cellulose) are cellulose crystallites with atleast one dimension equal or less than 100 nm. Cellulosenanocrystals are increasingly being investigated as areinforcement material in polymer composites with enhancedmechanical and physical properties. Cellulose nanocrystalsare usually produced from a cellulose containing feedstocksuch as lignocellulosic biomass (examples include wood,cotton, and wheat straw), as well as from bacteria.
