Solazyme Inc. has developed technology for large-scalemanufacture of oils from proprietary microalgae strains toconvert into biodiesel, jet fuel, and other biofuels. It hasnow made a biofuel feedstock and testing agreement withChevron Technology Ventures, a part of Chevron Corp. (SanRamon, CA). Association with the big petroleum company'sexisting refming and distribution organizations will be a bigasset in commercializing the algal-based biofuels.
