Assessment Centers Are an Excellent Way of Studying Decision Making

As I read the article on decision making and how industrial–organizational psychol-ogists might respond (Dalai et al., 2010), kept thinking that an assessment cen-ter is a methodology that could appeal to both judgment and decision-making (JDM) and industrial–organizational and organi-zational behavior (IOOB) researchers, thus serving as a mechanism for collaboration between the two fields. Assessment cen-ters allow for experimental studies (JDM) of the real-life judgments and decisions that managers must make (IOOB). They pro-vide consistent, realistic business problems to participants who are highly motivated "real people," not students or otherwise disinterested research participants.
