The dimensional change of #gamma#-TiAl during reactive-sintering was investigated to clarify the characteristic change. The powder mixture of titanium and aluminium alloy was prepared using powder extrusion process with various extrusion ratios. The materials with extrusion ratios over 5.4 showed a volumetric shrinkage. These materials, however, exhibited anisotropic dimensional change. The materials showed the expansion for the paralled direction to extrusion and the shrinkage for the perpendicular direction. This anisotoropy is due to the fibrous microstructure developed by extrusion.
