Chinese steel import volumes are likely to remain fat on the year at 13.6mn t in 2017, despite stable domestic consumption and capacity cuts, Chinese Iron and Steel Association (Cisa) vice-chairman Chi Jingdong said. The majority of imports will come from Japan, South Korea and EU countries, the association said at Assofermet’s Chinese Steel conference on 20 November in Milan.
