Diamond wire cutting (DWC) in present marble industry has a great importance in spite of its economic and technological problems. The wear on bead is a major parameter that affects operating cost in a marble quarry. This is very important for optimization and other technological studies related with the DWC. The aim of this study was to investigate the effect of the structure of diamond beads and rock types on diamond beads wear in cutting operations. In this study, DWC operation was performed with rock types of different mineralogical composition with different bead, the wear on beads were investigated optically and a binocular microscope examined effects of the wear type, diamond arrangement and the amount of diamond particles on the beads. Meanwhile, the suitability of beads for the rocks selected was determined and finally, some suggestions were presented for diamond bead production.
