Patent review: Recent patents & patent applications related to biofuels development

As concerns about oil and coal use continue to mount, public opinion is changing in favor of using biofuels in homes, vehicles, and industrial applications. With this shift in public opinion comes more innovation. Patent applications, which are one measure of innovation in a particular field, are dramatically increasing in numbers in the area of bio-techonology, and specifically in the areas of so-called first-, second-, and third-generation biofuels.
