USDA seeks comment on Syngenta GMO corn deregulation petition

The US Department of Agriculture's Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service (APHIS) is seeking public comment on a peti-tion to deregulate corn genetically engineered (GE) to produce a microbial enzyme that facilitates ethanol production. Comments are due by January 20, 2009. APHIS has regulated the corn through its notification and permitting process since 2002.
