USDA creates four additional biomass-support prefect streams

US Agriculture Secretary Tom Vilsack announced the USDA's creation of four additional Biomass Crop Assistance Program (BCAP) project areas in six states to expand availability of nonfood crops for manufacturing of liquid biofuels. The four project areas allocate acreage in California, Kansas, Montana, Oklahoma, Oregon, and Washington states for production of renewable energy crops.Two of the new BCAP project areas, targeted for California, Montana, Washington, and Oregon, will grow camelina at large scale. The oilseed wheat-rotation crop can be established on marginal lands.
