The Southern Manufacturing and Electronics Show returns to FIVE, Farnborough on February 12th and 13th 2014 for what promises to once again be the largest event ever held. Event organiser European Trade and Exhibition Services predicts that the final exhibitor count for the 2014 Southern Manufacturing and Electronics Show will hit nearly 800 for the first time in the show's history. While this makes it the largest annual show in the UK in terms of the variety of businesses participating, the prominence enjoyed by Southern Manufacturing & Electronics in the industrial events calendar is as much for the variety of firms participating as it is the volume. The show's co-location with Southern Electronics, the UK's longest-running electronics show, and the specialist precision engineering show, Auto-Aero, means that a single visit will yield vendors from virtually every area of manufacturing industry, from packaging supplies to the most recent machine tools. "The appeal of the show is very much that visitors can cover an extensive range of needs in just one visit," says Phil Valentine. "There isn't another show in the Southern half of the country that will allow you to see such a variety of products, services and production equipment in a single venue." As UK manufacturing comes to be defined less by the scale of its undertakings, and more by its unrivalled reputation for innovation and design, maintaining a steady flow of fresh ideas and an effective network of suppliers is more important than ever. This, perhaps, is one of the key factors underlying the continued popularity of Southern Manufacturing & Electronics. As one visitor last year memorably put it, "Meeting new suppliers means finding new ways to solve old problems." By combining big-name exhibitors and local firms in a single show, this is something Southern Manufacturing - and its new sister event in Manchester, Northern Manufacturing, does exceptionally well.
