Malcolm Kemp of Parker Hannifin's pneumatics division discusses how the latest specialised pneumatic valve technology is bringing huge benefits to a diverse range of industrial applications, significantly improving performance while reducing operating costs. Despite being an essential component of pneumatically driven systems used in a diverse range of industrial applications, standard pneumatic valves increasingly have been perceived to be commodity products. However, the latest highly evolved designs incorporate a number of innovative features that are able to offer benefits in many, often specialised, industrial applications. While these developments may at first seem relatively small, they can significantly improve the performance, efficiency and service life of industrial equipment. Additionally, the way in which the valves are controlled has also been considerably developed, increasing efficiency and enabling engineers to automate processes.
