With a recent demand for varied high priority services over IP networks with low-latency, such as virtual leased line or real-time services, diffserv type scheduling mechanism to achieve multiple guaranteed services and best-effort services at the same time is desired. In this paper, the authors propose a diffserv type scheduling mechanism to achieve a guaranteed data service, a real-time stream service and best-effort services at the same time, by combining priority queuing (PQ) and traffic shaper and the Weighted Fair Queuing (WFQ). Furthermore, the authors evaluated the latency of VoIP with variations of throughputs of guaranteed virtual leased line traffic and best-effort traffic by simulation. The results shows good characteristics at the edge nodes connecting user networks with a core network.
