Libya’s National Oil Corporation has resumed production at the Laheeb oil field in the Sirte basin after eight months out of action, local media reported Monday, pushing the country’s total oil output past 900,000 b/d. Along with the restart of the key Sharara field, which came back online June 8 and had reached 270,000 b/d last week, the same level as before it was shut—this has raised hopes that Libya’s crude output could reach 1 million b/d in the next few months.
