The slowdown in demand for coal in China is hitting the dry bulk shipping market, according to international shipping association, BIMCO. China imported just 100 million t of coal in 1H15 - a drop of more than 38 on the same period last year. "Currently overall dry bulk demand is the weakest since 2009," said Peter Sand, Chief Shipping Analyst at BIMCO. "Diminishing volumes for total Chinese coal imports is a drag on the market."
