Influence of the geometry on the pressure distribution of granular heaps

We investigate the effect of the geometry of granular heaps on thepressure distribution. For given pressure distributions under coneswe compute the pres- sure distribution under wedges using linearsuperposition. For cones with a pressure minimum, the pressureminimum for the corresponding wedge venishes. Comparisons withexperimental data gives good qualitative aggreement, but the totalpressure is overestimated.
