This paper studies on a subcarrier transmit power control combined with a partial non-power allocation (PNPA) technique for OFDM/FDD based wireless communication systems to reduce transmission power of wireless terminals. To reduce surplus transmit power allocation due to compensation for deeply faded subcarriers, the proposed system using a delay profile information channel based subcarrier transmit power control employs a PNPA technique in which deleted bits generated by punctured convolutional encoding process are allocated to subcarriers in bad conditions and no transmit power are allocated to such subcarriers. Computer simulation confirms that proposed scheme can reduce transmit power keeping with same information bit-rate compared with conventional coded OFDM systems.
