Invensys Launches InFusion 'Enterprise Control System'

Building on the architecture of the distributed control system, Invensys says it has created a unified real-time control, information, and application environment that will extend across virtually all plant and enterprise systems. The new system, named InFusion, is directly linked into Microsoft and SAP technologies. According to Invensys, the idea is not to replace existing equipment, but rather to work with it. That way plant operations and maintenance departments can be more effectively aligned with the business to optimise overall asset performance management. "It's revolutionary", says Mike Caliel, president of Invensys Process Systems, "By combining the latest capabilities from across Invensys into one unified architecture, we have realised a step change in the utilisation of open technologies and standards in a fully industrial system".
