The plasticizer di(2-ethyl-hexyl) phthalate (DEHP) is clear of suspicion of being carcinogenic, according to a leading international cancer authority DEHP is the phthalate type plasticizer most widely used with PVC - familiar in numerous applications including medical devices flooring, cable sheathing and vehicle interiors.The International Agency for Research on Cancer (IARC) previously considered the plasticizer to be 'possibly carcinogenic to humans', based on earlier studies on rodents. After further research it has concluded, however, that the effects noted in rats and mice are unlikely to be replicated in humans.
