In tobacco leaf disks floated on water in the dark, chloroplast rRNA (23S and 16S rRNA) decreased rapidly, and this decrease was inhibited by 10−6M BA. The cytoplasmic rRNA (25S and 18S rRNA) level changed little during a few days of dark incubation regardless of the presence or absence of BA. Cycloheximide at 10−5Mcompletely removed the effect of BA.
