A central assignment of knowledge management is related to the identification of persons as knowledge carriers. A computer-based system can actively contribute to a better utilization of corporate, knowledge about employees' competencies. The following article elaborates, on the substantial benefit provided by the possibility to use computer-based reasoning to answer questions about competencies out of implicit, knowledge.
