The National Basketball Association (NBA) has been slowly shifting how it drafts amateur talent. Many students are leaving college early in hopes of making the pros. Teams, once reluctant to choose these underclassmen, arc now selecting them regularly due in part to the success ol: players like Chris Weber and Allen Iverson who were both underclassmen when drafted. Only four players selected in the first round of the 2001 NBA draft were seniors in college, turning the draft into a "who's who" of freshmen, sophomore, and junior college athletes.
