The Caribbean Common Market brings together the English speaking countries of the Caribbean, South and Central America into an economic unit, facilitating regional trade and development of regional policies. The geology of the region is varied as the countries occur within different geological settings which dictate the types of industrial minerals that can occur. The potential for development of selected industrial minerals has long since been established, but to date the individual countries have not capitalised on this sector as was expected, suggesting that policy makers are not giving this sector the assistance it needs to become a vital part of the economy of the region.
