Anglo/Dutch steel producer Corus is spending an estimated 75m pounds. Rebuilding its Port Talbot steelworks blast furnace, which was virtually destroyed in an explosion last year.The existing furnace is in the process of being dismantled,, and the new furnace is expected to be commissioned by January 2003. Output from the blast furnaces on site will then be 3.4m. tpa, slightly above the figure before the explosion.
