Lakefield to acquire Mountain States Research

Testing and research company Lakefield Research Ltd of Lakefield, Ontario is to acquire Mountain States R&D International, Inc. of Tuscon, Arizona subject to due diligence and final approvals. The deal would give Lakefield much greater access to the mining industry in the south-west USA as well as enhancing its focus in Mexico and Central America. Terms have not been disclosed.Lakefield is keen to expand its presence in the USA and this provides an opportunity to tap into an established market with business relationships already in place. Kathy Fletcher, marketing director at Lakefield commented, "we have known Roshan for a number of years. He has long standing relationships with US and Mexican mining communities so we would be able to leverage off those." Dr. Roshan Bhappu, president of Mountain States said he expected the agreement to be finalised in late March. He added, "we have our own clientele and will try to integrate our work with Lakefield to advance projects in the southwest, Mexico, Central and South America."
