Almatis plant marks decade of Indian supply

On 6 June, Indian speciality alumina producer, Almatis ACC Ltd, celebrated the 1 0th anniversary of the Falta operation in West Bengal, a jv plant that has been processing tabular alumina from Europe for the Indian refractory market since 1995. Almatis GmbH is a 40 percent shareholder in the operation, with Indian refractory group Associated Cement Companies Ltd (ACC) holding the majority 60 percent stake. The Indian market is characterised by various local alumina producers but they do not feature exclusive speciality alumina products as Almatis does with its premium alumina products. Almatis is also the only local tabular alumina producer in India.
