Lithium carbonate applications

摘要

Lithium carbonate is used as a raw material in speciality glass manufacture,, facilitating the formation of lithia (Li_2O) in the glass which lowers its melting point, viscosity and thermal expansion. In turn this improves the resistance of the glass to sudden temperature variation. Chemical durability, density, and workability are also improved. Lithia also imparts these properties to ceramic and enamel products: it increases the brilliance of ceramic frits and glazes, and helps reduce firing times and flux consumption.
