Drilling grade barytes revival

Unibario SA is to commence 1J production of drilling grade barytes from a grinding plant being established near to the port of Garrucha. Tip plant is being located adjacent to barytes producer, Minersa's yard. Unibario has an arrangement with Minersa to take both the direct shipment grade already available and the gravity concentrate from Minersa's new 60,000 tpa- jigging plant when it is commissioned, probably this month (see IM May '95, p.64). Unibario's grinding plant will have a capacity of 50,000 tpa API/OCMA barytes and will begin producing in July or August this year.
