Kronos sees 7% slide in TiO_2 prices

The major developments in the titanium dioxide (TiO_2) pigment industry during May revolved around US-based Kronos Worldwide Inc. The company announced a raft of price increases effective 1 June 2013, or as permitted by contract. These increases were virtually identical to the price increases announced for Q2 earlier in the year. Despite the previously announced increases, the US-based company saw its prices drop 7% quarter-on-quarter (q-o-q) in Q1 2013. The markets acceptance of these new prices is unknown, however.
