Century Aluminum sells West Virginia smelter

US primary aluminium producer Century Aluminum has closed the sale of its idled Ravenswood, West Virginia, smelter to New Jersey-based industrial asset acquisition firm Applied Partners for $15mn in cash and assumption of "certain liabilities." Century announced the transaction in a Security and Exchange Commission filing late Friday and did not disclose any details on whether or not the assets would be liquidated for cash or whether the smelter would return to production.
