After the 15~(th) Industrial Minerals International Congress, held in Paris in April, IM took to the road to meet some of France's leading industrial mineral producers, and learn the latest on their activities. In the first part of this feature, three of France's leading industrial minerals companies are profiled, each one a market leader in its field - calcium carbonate, barytes, talc and gypsum. In January 2003, a follow-up feature will focus on the French ceramics industry, and will profile producers of raw materials and prepared bodies including AGS, DAM, Imerys subsidiary KPCL, and SOKA.
