Afcan granted phosphate permit

Montreal-based Afcan Mining Corp. has been granted a prospecting permit by the government of Burkina Faso for the Kodjari phosphate deposit, located in the south-east of the sub-Saharan country near the Benin border. The permit covers an area of 108 km~2 and is valid for three years, however, the company said it can be renewed twice for an additional three years. The Kodjari deposit was discovered 20 years ago and Afcan states that the known resource is 65m. tonnes at 28 percent P_2O_5.
