Accomplishing both environmental protection and good NVH performance has become a significant task in automotive development, as reducing the volume of CO{sub}2 emissions and saving natural resources have grown into a global environmental issue. Since the world's first gasoline mass production hybrid passenger car, the "Prius", was introduced in 1997, hybrid vehicles have enjoyed dominant market share among ecology vehicles and have entered into large-quantity production phase. This paper describes NV reduction technology for solving problems peculiar to the hybrid vehicle such as engine start/stop vibration, drone noise at low engine speed and motor/generator noise and vibration. It also describes application technology of low-rolling-resistance tires with lightweight wheels and recycled materials for soundproofing.
