Steel refractories ripe for recovery, says industry

In a rare positive assessment of the worlds industrial climate, manufacturers have agreed that things can only get better for steel refractories. Results published by some of the worlds leading refractory firms have shown that while steel markets continued to perform poorly in Q1 2013, there is evidence to suggest that steel has reached the lowest ebb in its cycle. Apparent steel use declined by 6.5% in 2012, according to the World Steel Association (worlds-teel), leading last year to a succession of gloomy oudooks for steel refractories, which are the largest consumers of refractory minerals such as alumina, andalusite, bauxite, graphite, magnesia and zircon.
