iopmath(Im/I,In/I)/iopmath-string-like DIp/I-brane bound states

An(m,n)-string bound state (withm,nrelativelyprime integers) in type IIB string theory can be interpreted fromthe D-string worldsheet point of view asnD-strings carryingmunits of quantized electric flux or quantized electric field.We argue, from the D-brane worldvolume point of view, thatsimilar Dp-brane bound states should also exist for2p8in both type IIA (whenpis even) and type IIB (whenpis odd) string theories. As inp= 1case, these bound statescan each be interpreted asnDp-branes carryingmunits ofquantized constant electric field. In particular, they allpreserve one half of the spacetime supersymmetries.
