Anaconda Barite advances with a new jig plant in 2014

Anaconda Barite told IM that it is planning to upgrade the current plant capacity at its Cobachi deposit located in Mexico. From January 2014 a new jig plant will be installed in order to produce barite of 4.10 - 4.20 g/cm~3 specific gravity on a larger scale. "When this plant becomes fully operational, by July or August of 2014, Anaconda will only supply high grade barite," the company told IM. Anaconda Barite, a Mexican company, is owned by people with more than 30 years of experience in the barite (barytes) business. The company controls one of the largest barite deposits in Mexico, the Cobachi deposit, which is located 33 miles east of Mermosillo, the state capital of Sonora. With all operations and development projects in Cobachi, Anaconda Barite has delivered, in 2013, four vessels with nearly 100,000 tonnes of low grade barite from Port of Guaymas, in the north of Mexico.
