Is one of Asia's "Tigers", Taiwan is continuing on its path of runaway economic success. Taiwan's domestic industrial minerals industry is limited to significant production of limestone, dolomite, marble and serpentine dimension stone, and clays. Otherwise, the country's growing minera consuming markets of steel, cement, glass, ceramics, foundry materials, and refractories are satisfied by increasing volumes of importers minerals. For many companies, Taiwan represents an ideal operating base for sales in to east Apia's other growth markets, for which the outlook appears bright. The China-Taiwan issue remains as delicate as ever, although the historic and economically significant prospect of direct sipping links between the two countries In the near future now appears more hopefully. In May this year, IM visited Taiwan to examine its industrial minerals mining and trading industry, dong with some of the main markets.
