The modern asbestos industry differs markedly from that of the past.Today,the serpentine form chrysotile,or "white asbestos"accounts for the vast majority of asbestos mined and traded with only minor exceptions.The other amphibole form asbestos minerals-amosite (brown asbestos),crocidolite (blue asbestos),actinolite,anthophyllite,and tremolite-are not mined on a large scale either because they are relatively rare,or have a much higher toxicity.
