Imerys buys Australian Vermiculite Industries

Imerys Minerals Australia Pty. Ltd acquired Australian Vermiculite Industries Pty. Ltd (AVI), on 28 February for 4.85m Australia dollars. (2.51m dollars).AVI, a division of Imdex Ltd, mines and processes vermiculite at Mud Tank, near Alice Springs, in the Northern Territory. The deposit is estimated to have a saleable yield of about 750,000 tonnes, and is an open cut operation. It is also reported to have a production capacity of 12,000 tpa, and is capable of producing a range of concentrates from medium to micron crude vermiculite.
