Washington Mills targets Saudi SiC

US FUSED MINERALS producer, Washington Mills Electro Minerals Corp., is poised to begin silicon carbide (SiC) production in Saudi Arabia, as part of a joint-venture (j-v) with local investor Ahmad H. Algosaibi & Brothers Co. and Japan's Sumitomo Corp. Inc. The j-v, which involves the start-up of a new 24,000 tpa SiC plant at Jubail Industrial Park, eastern Saudi Arabia, has recently been agreed through a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU), with production scheduled to begin in early 2011.
