THE MARKET for refractory raw materials has been, and continues to be, quite favorable. Worldwide steel production is strong, and this is still a dominant force in determining the overall demand for refractories, and therefore, the need for refractory raw materials. The influence of China is the main driving force behind this, not only for steel but for other markets as well. This combined with both new refractory needs and new markets for refractory products with respect to geography, have kept refractory raw material suppliers very busy in recent times. C-E Minerals, along with its sister-company Treibacher Schleifmittel, are both members of the Imerys family of companies and important suppliers of raw materials to the refractory industry. Treibacher is a leading supplier of various fused minerals to the refractory and abrasive industries, with production facilities in North America, China, South America and Europe. The main raw materials supplied by Treibacher to the refractory industry are brown fused alumina, white fused alumina, pink fused alumina, silicon carbide, fused zirconia mullite and fused white mullite.
