He continued: "This restructuring is necessary to ensure that Vesuvius maintains a strong European manufacturing base capable of competing in the global market, responding to the changing needs of our customers and maintaining our world leadership position." Anderson added that the markets in which Goole operates are going through rapid changes in technology and operating practice. As a consequence demand for higher performing and longer life products are resulting in lower volumes. According to a Vesuvius spokesperson, the company currently has no plans for further restructuring.
