摘要

The already tight supply situation in the European soda ash market has been exacerbated recently by two of its major producers having to declare force majeure. UK producer Brunner Mond & Co. Ltd was forced to declare force majeure on 31 May after problems occurred in the power generation area of its Cheshin site. The company had to put its customers, including Pilkington Glass, United Glass and Rockware Glass, on 80 percent allocation. By the middle of June, however, the problems had been resolved and Brunner Mond was reviewing the allocations on a daily basis. Supplies were expected to return to normal within a matter of weeks.
