Filler and filtration mineral prices 10 rise

LEADING US FILTRATION minerals producers and kaolin and calcium carbonate producers increased their prices from 1 January 2010 in North America. Among the main reasons for this move is to support investments and cover costs. These latest price increases come after a tough year for the industry, as with many other industrial minerals, demand for these products has been impacted by the world economic downturn. Demand for kaolin and calcium carbonate products was particularly weakened in the region. As a consequence, producers have responded during the course of this year by adjusting production levels accordingly to better match supply and demand.
