MAL cuts calcined alumina

IN A MOVE which is fast becoming a global trend, leading producer MAL Hungarian Aluminium Inc. has cut calcined alumina production following a dearth of demand from its main markets. The company expects to produce 280,000 tpa calcined alumina grades in 2009, from which 75 percent will be sold to the refractories sector while 1 5 percent will be diverted to ceramics users.
