Asia's rising star/Mineral developments in Vietnam

Today, Vietnam has one of the fastest growing economies in Asia with an average annual GDP growth of 8 percent. The country is often heralded as the next rising star in Asia. Already, buoyant economic growth has put pressure on certain mineral resources, prompting the Vietnamese government to push for the production of more value added mineral products over the past four year. The government is now making concerted drives to conserve ilmenite for domestic production of rutile and titanium oxide pigment; limestone and clay for domestic production of clinker and cement; and gemstones for domestic cutting, finishing gemstones, and jewellery
