Societe Generale de Recherches et d'Exploitations Minieres (Sogerem) is to sell off equipment from its defunct fluorspar facilities in the Tarn region of south-west France at a public auction to be held in Albion 6 July 2006. Sogerem's parent company, Alcan Inc., announced the closure of the 200,000 tpa operation in late 2005, after a re-evaluation of its reserves in August 2005 confirmed an insufficient volume of fluorspar in the mines to sustain the business.
